Financial Times : Emissions statement: how companies are getting serious about climate change

« More than 150 companies have adopted targets that are in line with the 2C goal, although the emissions covered are still small relative to the 37bn tonnes of carbon dioxide pumped into the air each year by human activities. There is still a big debate about how companies define their carbon targets, and whether some of them are simply “greenwashing” by purchasing offsets, rather than reducing their actual emissions. “We need a new definition of carbon neutrality,” said Renaud Bettin, of Carbone 4, a low-carbon consulting group. “This is a very fashionable word. But we need more clarity, integrity to define exactly what it is…”
