REASONS FOR JOINING CARBONE 4

Carbone 4, a carbon strategy consulting firm, was founded in 2007.The firm possesses both technical expertise (carbon assessment, strong specialist knowledge of energy and climate issues) and expertise in strategy, finance and project management.Carbone 4 aims to provide its customers with solutions that will reduce their dependency on fossil energy, and with the means to measure the effects of the steps taken.

OUR GUIDING CONVICTIONS

• Our reasoning and our services rely above all on scientific and technical diagnostics based on  the work of climate physicists and geologists specialised in hydrocarbon resources. We refuse to deny the knowledge acquired in these fields for reasons of political expediency.
• We are firmly convinced that anticipation is the best response to a constraint that is known to be inevitable. We want to transform the constraint into a powerful accelerator of innovation, a distinguishing commercial feature, and an ongoing motivating factor for staff that will continue to gain strength. Our ambition is to transform the constraint into a challenge.
• From assessment to action plan, we hope to help companies and government offices move forward through innovation, anticipation and action. Time is running out.
• We believe that carbon criteria must be integrated into business practices, because no progress is possible without a yardstick, and conventional economic indicators are not adequate for anticipating a response to this particular constraint.
• In short, knowing what is at stake with climate and energy issues in this century, we want to make a positive contribution to the society we live in. We want to be a positive actor in the economy of the 21^st century.

In our recruitment (and that does depend somewhat on the state of the economy) we are looking for staff who can

• Head consulting missions to establish Bilan Carbone® emissions assessments and carbon action plans, to the customer’s satisfaction
• Take part in training sessions and the elaboration of pedagogical tools for our customers
• Contribute to the Energy and Climate information and publication update compiled by Carbone 4.

The women and men we are looking for

• Have a high-level education and degree, generally in a scientific field, and in most cases some previous experience
• Show strong interest and curiosity for the intellectual aspects of climate and energy issues, and a possess a solid general knowledge of these subjects (including ideally some background in economics)
• Have both a considerable capacity to work independently and a team spirit
• Are comfortable in relationships with others (essential for the role of consultant) and with a good sense of humour, one of our company’s distinguishing features! (we have to know how to laugh when confronting serious topics).
• Are at ease in using computer tools and software, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
• Have an excellent command of English
• Are willing to adopt distance work on a part-time schedule, as do all of our staff, contributing to an environmentally efficient mode of organisation.
