The construction sector accounts for approximately 30% of France's greenhouse gas emissions and is the second-largest emitter after the transportation sector.
Essential to the proper functioning of our societies and our economy, the construction sector also has a major role to play in the transition to a low-carbon world.
The main sources of emissions from buildings stem from energy consumption and emissions associated with the construction materials required for both residential and commercial buildings, whether for new construction or renovation. Consequently, efforts to decarbonize the sector involve reducing and decarbonizing buildings’ energy consumption, decarbonizing construction materials and products, and promoting energy-efficient use.
