The Role of Infrastructure in France’s Low-Carbon Transition and Adaptation to Climate Change

Interview with Hélène Chauviré, Louise Badoche
Infrastructure-related activities currently account for 50% of France's carbon footprint.
Infrastructure refers to all permanent facilities, structures, and equipment that underpin France’s economic activity, with public authorities at all levels of government serving as the primary contracting entities. Examples include roads, rail networks, and access to energy, digital services, water, and so on.
In December 2021, the report “The Role of Infrastructure in France’s Low-Carbon Transition and Adaptation to Climate Change,” co-authored by Carbone 4 and OFCE-NEO, highlighted the link between infrastructure and climate drift, and the importance of understanding these issues to ensure a successful low-carbon transition.
These are the questions addressed in this study, which we discussed in this episode with Hélène Chauviré, a manager at Carbone 4 and head of the Mitigation Division.
