A Custom Calculation Tool
Carbone 4 has developed a custom tool that has become a cornerstone of Legendre’s carbon footprint management. Legendre’s teams are continuously improving this tool to increase its accuracy for each emissions source.
This mechanism allows for a twofold strategic interpretation:
- Vision Statement: Guarantee of Compliance with Regulatory Standards
- Operational Vision : A more detailed breakdown of expenditures by activity (Building, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development, etc.) and by project, allowing us to go beyond the regulatory framework and better reflect the realities of the industry.
Sustaining Internal Expertise
The roadmap outlines a governance framework and initial milestones for change management to ensure the successful operational implementation of the initiatives.
As part of this initiative, Legendre has created the position of Carbon Coordinator, who is now responsible for conducting an annual review of the carbon footprint, explaining the issues to the teams and the Executive Committee, and implementing the decarbonization strategy in collaboration with the business units.
A path set in motion by the first concrete decisions
The project resulted in an initial quantification (carbon per euro) that makes it possible to prioritize actions based on their effectiveness and cost. Several concrete courses of action were identified: incorporating LCA into design decisions, leveraging internal engineering capabilities, gradually shifting the business toward renovation, and developing low-carbon solutions such as modular wood construction.
