If you have any questions about Carbone 4, or if you would like to request specific support, please contact us.
Faced with the urgent need to structure its adaptation strategy, ArianeGroup turned to Carbone 4 in 2023 to develop a vulnerability report based on concrete data and prioritize adaptation actions by identifying vulnerabilities specific to the group through the deployment of our tool OCARA.
Training Courses
A “Climate and Business” session offered by the Carbone 4 Academy broadens the focus on decarbonization to include a comprehensive analysis of the physical climate risks affecting economic value chains.
A Carbone 4 Academy session titled “Adapting Your Organization to Climate Change (Ocara* Method)” allows participants to assess the tool’s suitability for the group’s expectations and needs, and to develop their skills in using it.
A full-scale test
A pilot project within a limited scope allows for the customization of the OCARA methodology to reflect ArianeGroup’s industrial realities (terminology, metrics, processes).
The deployment
About ten people are being trained to roll out the initiative to all sites.
Today, the OCARA tool is operational across the entire group. It enables us to accurately assess climate vulnerabilities by replacing perceptions with quantitative data and to develop meaningful reports.
The tool is tailored to each site (e.g., incorporating hail risk despite the associated uncertainties), resulting in concrete processes that the teams can understand.
In addition to tangible results, the project enabled ArianeGroup to benefit from sharing experiences with other manufacturers within Carbone 4’s Adaptation Club and to adapt OCARA to real-world business needs through active engagement during the testing phase.
ArianeGroup, Europe's leading manufacturer of space launch vehicles, develops, manufactures, and operates civil and military launch vehicles, as well as state-of-the-art equipment.
In 2022, a hailstorm struck one of the group’s sites and severely disrupted the value chain for one of its main products. This event accelerated the group’s awareness of the issue, prompting it to begin monitoring the impacts of climate-related hazards on its operations. At the same time, several factors reinforced this trend: demands for transparency regarding climate action are on the rise, customers are increasingly incorporating adaptation criteria into their specifications, and regulatory obligations are gradually emphasizing resilience requirements (double materiality, the “Climate” standard, the “France at 4°C” National Climate Adaptation Plan (PNACC)).
