Carbon Offsetting: Can't See the Forest for the Trees?

As COP 26 takes place from November 1 to 12, solutions to environmental challenges are once again at the center of the debate. Forest conservation is one of the key issues, as forests are essential to our planet’s climate balance and to preserving the richness of biodiversity. In this regard, businesses have a key role to play. For several years now, they have been incorporating environmental considerations into their operations. Carbon offsetting is one of the most widely used strategies: offsetting one’s greenhouse gas emissions by funding projects that reduce other emissions or sequester carbon.

While this effort is a first step, it is neither sufficient nor the most effective way to combat climate change and deforestation. A new, much stronger momentum for action must be set in motion. But how? Many dedicated NGOs are proposing effective, sustainable solutions tailored to corporate initiatives, yet they remain largely unknown.

Tuesday, November 9, at [6:18 p.m.], the SOS GROUP and its association Planet Emergency  offer opportunities to engage with experts and discover new solutions that enable companies and employees to actively and effectively participate in the fight against climate change and deforestation.
