On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Carbone 4 had the pleasure of hosting a roundtable discussion in Lyon alongside Jean-Marc Jancovici, Laurent Morel, and our Lyon team to address a very timely issue:
Business Strategy and Planetary Limits: How Can We Take Back Control (Together)?
Coming face-to-face with planetary boundaries presents companies and their business models with unprecedented challenges. To address this, traditional approaches to strategic thinking are no longer effective for preparing for the future, making the right decisions, or meeting the goals of the ecological transition.
Companies must adopt innovative approaches to anticipate these changes, transform themselves more effectively, and help build a livable world.
Many business leaders are grappling with these issues and may feel isolated when dealing with them. How can a company align its business objectives, its purpose, and the objectives of its stakeholders with the demands of the environmental emergency?
This event provided an opportunity to demonstrate that this isolation is no longer justified. Companies can draw on both a forward-looking vision and the introduction of a “new frame of reference” to guide their decisions. In particular, with Carbone 4 through: its various areas of expertise, the IF Initiativeto develop new tools and methods and its collaboration with emlyon business school to help establish the teaching and research chair "Strategy in the Anthropocene”.
