Carbone 4 training courses now lead to certification: Get your skills recognized
You can now obtain official recognition of your skills by taking a certification exam associated with certain Carbone 4 training programs, which is evaluated by a panel of experts.
Which training programs lead to certification?
"Carbon Footprint" Training
This training course introduces you to the leading methodologies (Bilan Carbone®, GHG Protocol, Bilan GES) and teaches you how to independently calculate your first carbon footprint using a tool specifically designed by Carbone 4. You will thus learn how to implement this fundamental process in practice. As a pioneer and leader in climate and carbon issues, Carbone 4 shares its unique methodological expertise with you through this course.
Training Course: “Adaptation & Climate Change—the OCARA Method”
Over the course of a 5-week program, you will gain an understanding of climate modeling and the relevant regulatory frameworks; learn to distinguish between physical risks and transition risks; assess an organization’s vulnerability across its value chain; and subsequently identify priority areas for adaptation.
Why a certificate?
Organizations are facing an escalation of climate-related risks (heat waves, droughts, floods, wildfires, etc.) and growing expectations from regulators, investors, and insurers.
In this context, it is becoming increasingly necessary to develop practical skills and can be directly applied to transformation projects.
This certificate was designed to:
- to verify mastery of the methodologies covered during the training,
- demonstrate a level of expertise,
- make the most of their new skills in their professional lives.
How does the certification process work?
The certificate is based on a comprehensive assessment designed to confirm that the skills acquired during the training are under control and applicable in a professional setting.
🎓 Mandatory training before the exam
The training program helps participants acquire the methods, tools, and analytical framework required for the evaluation and maximize their chances of success.
The certification exam is open only to participants who have completed the associated training.
- For the “Carbon Footprint” certificate : The training must have been completed beforehand, with no deadline (Any past session is eligible.)
For the “Adaptation & Climate Change (OCARA)” certificate : The exam covers the new version of the formation, deployed from January 2026 (Content has been updated, particularly regarding online classes 3, 4, and 5.)
As a result, participants who completed the training before 2026 must take these updated online classes in order to be eligible to take the exam.

↪ Step 1 — Explanatory Documents & Support
Provision of methodological resources.
↪ Step 2 — Professional portfolio(s) / portfolio(s) of evidence
The candidate prepares two portfolios based on professional situations or situations applicable to a professional context, which demonstrate the ability to apply the skills, in accordance with the instructions provided, within 7 days after access to the certification module is granted.
↪ Step 3 — Oral defense before a jury (30 min)
Online presentation + Q&A session, approximately 7 days after the deliverables are submitted — Duration: 30 minutes.
↪ Step 4 — Professional Jury
A jury composed of 2 qualified professionals (internal + external).
↪ Step 5 — Results
A decision will be made based on the application materials and the oral defense, followed by the announcement of the results and the issuance of the certificate.
What skills are assessed?
Skills Assessed on the Exam "Calculating an Organization's Carbon Footprint"
The certificate attests to the ability to:
- Define the organizational and operational scopes of a carbon footprint
- Collect and organize the activity data needed for the calculation
- Calculating a carbon footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol
- Analyze the results and assess their reliability
- Identify, prioritize, and propose measures to reduce emissions
Skills Assessed on the Exam "Building a Company's Resilience to Climate Change Using the OCARA Method"
The certificate attests to the ability to:
- analyze exposure to climate risks and select an appropriate time horizon,
- assess resilience and vulnerabilities,
- analyze trends in climate hazards according to different scenarios,
- propose, prioritize, and evaluate adaptation measures.
How much does the exam cost, and is it eligible for financial assistance?
Eligibility to Take the Exam
The The exam fee is set at 800 € (excluding tax) (per participant). This amount covers the organization of the program, the recruitment of judges, and the time spent on evaluation.
📌 Important: This exam registration fee is not eligible for financial aid. (Not eligible for OPCO / France Travail funding).

How do I enroll in the certification program?
Registration for the certification program takes place at the time of enrollment in the training program, in two ways.
Option 1 — Online Registration
- You can register for the training course online
- You indicate that you would like to also take the exam
- You complete your registration for the training course by signing the training agreement (sent automatically after registration)
- The training team will contact you in order to define which exam session You can take the exam to earn the certificate
Option 2 — Registration with the training team (by phone or video call)
You'll be in direct contact with the training team, who will assist you with registration. In this case, you can determine immediately with the team:
- your training session
- and the exam session in which you wish to position yourself
