The WBCSD and the Net Zero Initiative have released their Guidance on Avoided Emissions, a new framework for calculating and quantifying emissions avoided through the solutions sold by companies.

Emissions avoided through these solutions quantify companies’ ability to offer decarbonization solutions aligned with the global 1.5°C goal. This is a climate indicator in its own right, distinct from the carbon footprint (Pillar A) and carbon sinks (Pillar C).

The result of more than a year's work, this guide originated with NZI's publication of the Pillar B Guide - Calculating and Valuing Avoided Emissions released in June 2022.
