Carbone 4’s methodologies for assessing the climate impact of investment portfolios are in line with the recommendations of the Bloomberg Task Force
On Wednesday, December 14, the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures published a report addressed to Mark Carney—Chair of the Financial Stability Board—who has issued recommendations on the disclosure of climate-related information by companies and financial institutions. These recommendations validate all of Carbone 4’s methodological choices over the past ten years.
In fact, the method Carbon Impact Analytics a method for assessing the carbon impact of asset portfolios developed by Carbone 4, provides an assessment of the key points that the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) requires companies and investors to report:
- an analysis of the strategy in terms of climate;
- one analysis of emission reduction targets;
- one Measurement of induced and avoided emissions by the products and services sold;
- a carbon footprint of the Scopes 1, 2, and 3
Furthermore, the breakdown of the high-stakes sectors The Carbon Impact Analytics methodology is the same as that used in the sectors for which the TCFD provides additional recommendations, namely: energy; transportation; construction and real estate; and agriculture, food, and forest products.
In addition to this methodology for assessing the carbon impact of asset portfolios, Carbone 4 is developing the C.R.I.S. project—Climate Risk Impact Screening—which will eventually make it possible to assess the physical risks associated with climate change. By drawing on these two innovative methods, Carbone 4 offers a comprehensive approach to assessing the risks and opportunities associated with climate change. Finally, Carbone 4 is also in line with the Task Force’s recommendations by offering companies the opportunity toassess the impact of various scenarios on their strategy, including a 2°C scenario. Addressing climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the economic and financial world today. Carbone 4 welcomes the findings of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures’ report and hopes that its recommendations will enable companies and investors to engage in dialogue and better address the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
