AG2R LA MONDIALE is partnering with CARBONE 4 to measure the carbon footprint of its bond portfolio

September 28, 2017 - AG2R LA MONDIALE announces the signing of a partnership agreement with Carbone 4 to extend carbon footprint measurement to the corporate and sovereign bonds in its asset portfolio. A large portion of the securities held by AG2R LA MONDIALE are in sectors whose environmental impact is currently poorly measured. The partnership therefore aims to jointly develop a methodology to measure their carbon footprint.

Announced as part of Responsible Finance Week, this collaboration marks an important milestone in the socially responsible investment (SRI) strategy of the Group and its asset management company. For the past 15 years, AG2R LA MONDIALE GESTION D’ACTIFS has had a team of SRI analysts and portfolio managers who, as of the end of 2016, managed a range of financial products totaling 9 billion euros. The challenge now is to gradually extend the principles of responsible investing to all 100 billion euros in assets managed by AG2R LA MONDIALE’s Investment Department, including 73 billion euros in bonds. In the future, other environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria may be addressed using the same approach.

Publication of the First Article 173 Report

The initiative with Carbone 4 was launched in conjunction with AG2R LA MONDIALE’s publication of its first reports, released for the year 2016, in accordance with Article 173-VI of the Energy Transition for Green Growth Act: one report per entity, for a total of five reports*. These reports outline AG2R LA MONDIALE’s overall approach to ESG and climate issues, as well as how this approach is implemented within the Group’s investment policy. According to David Simon, a member of the Executive Committee in charge of finance, investments, and risk at AG2R LA MONDIALE: “The first Article 173 reports enabled the Group to conduct a comprehensive and candid assessment of its responsible investment policy.
