Carbone 4 Announces the Launch of a Carbon Neutrality Initiative
Carbone 4, a consulting firm specializing in energy transition and climate change adaptation, announces the launch of a carbon neutrality division. Renaud Bettin, who has just joined the Carbone 4 team, will lead the development of this division.
Under the Paris Climate Agreement, France, the city of Paris, and numerous companies have committed to achieving a balance between anthropogenic emissions and carbon sinks[1]—whether natural or human-induced. While carbon neutrality is too often reduced to the mere purchase of offset credits, it nevertheless represents a specific and ambitious goal that prioritizes the decarbonization of the economy. Carbone 4 aims to develop initiatives centered on carbon neutrality to meet the growing need for support among public and private economic stakeholders.
In light of differing approaches to carbon neutrality, Carbone 4 aims to promote best practices for achieving Net Zero Emissions. In addition to his consulting work, Renaud Bettin will develop an online method to support organizations seeking to rigorously commit to the path toward carbon neutrality. At the same time, he will establish a ZEN Alliance – Net Zero Emissions –, bringing together economic stakeholders with the goal of creating a driving force and a benchmark. Renaud Bettin worked for nine years at the NGO GERES, where he led the CO2Solidaire carbon offset program, launched and developed the Info Compensation Carbone resource center, and established the Climate Solidarity movement.
His expertise across the entire supply chain gives him a comprehensive view of the challenges facing a rapidly changing industry. For Renaud Bettin, joining Carbone 4 is “ "Given the outstanding work this firm has carried out over the past 10 years, this is both an opportunity and a source of pride." Renaud will be “ "driven by a commitment to quality, integrity, and innovation—values that Carbone 4 upholds in its efforts to build a zero-carbon world". [1] A sink is a process that removes greenhouse gases from the atmosphere: photosynthesis, dissolution in the ocean, etc.
