NEF, the financial institution with the lowest carbon footprint in France

With 121 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emitted per million euros invested, La Nef’s carbon intensity (emissions relative to the size of its balance sheet) is the lowest among all French financial institutions, with the average for French banks standing at 481 metric tons of CO2 equivalent per million euros invested.
For every 1€ invested or financed, La Nef therefore emits three times less than the French bank with the lowest emissions, according to the report Oxfam's Report on Banks and Climate Change (which uses the Carbone 4 methodology).

This discrepancy is due to greater exposure to customer loans, which are themselves less carbon-intensive than those of most other banks, thanks to a sound sector allocation strategy.
