The Ocara platform, the industry-standard method for analyzing physical risks and developing adaptation plans, is now available as a SaaS solution
Paris, January 27, 2026 – Carbone 4, a leading consulting firm specializing in energy, climate, and biodiversity issues, announces the release of the Ocara (Operational Climate Adaptation and Resilience Assessment) methodology in SaaS software platform version to help businesses and organizations better understand and manage the physical risks associated with climate-related events (heat waves, droughts, floods, and gradual changes) to which they are exposed.
A SaaS solution to cover the entire process of adapting to physical risks
The SaaS platform makes Ocara’s customized climate risk assessment even more seamless, enabling companies to evaluate the resilience of their business models and identify concrete actions to strengthen them. The platform can be used by companies throughout their adaptation journey, from initial risk screenings to in-depth analysis of the most critical sites. This version covers the four key stages of a comprehensive adaptation process: mapping the risks at each site and across the company’s value chain; assessing operational and financial impacts; developing a tailored action plan; and, finally, monitoring progress in implementation.
The SaaS solution provides user-friendly analytics and collaboration interfaces, as well as access to several proprietary databases (for example: global climate exposure data, impacts on business lines, a catalog of actions for each risk, etc.) that Carbone 4 has compiled based on 250 engagements with companies across all sectors. It also facilitates the rollout of initiatives across multiple sites while retaining the benefits of the OCARA method and integration with client data. The solution was designed to be used independently by clients, while still offering them the option to receive support and training on these topics from Carbone 4’s experts.
Ocara, the only operational methodology developed by climate experts
Developed by Carbone 4 with support from Ademe, HDI, Bureau Veritas, and the Grand Est Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The OCARA method assesses a company’s climate resilience based on a comprehensive view of physical risks that encompasses the organization’s entire value chain, in accordance with current standards (ISO, CSRD, TCFD, Taxonomy), and then to develop strategies and action plans to strengthen this resilience. OCARA is based on robust data derived from scientific research. It enables climate data to be translated into impacts, risks, and then levers for action, following a structured and transparent approach.
Since 2021, Carbone 4 has implemented the Ocara method at approximately 1,000 sites around the world, resulting in operational adaptation plans developed collaboratively with local teams. The methodology has thus already been applied to a variety of site contexts, reflecting the diversity of their typologies: heavy industry sites, manufacturing facilities for various types of equipment, transportation networks, water and wastewater systems, landfills, logistics warehouses, commercial and tourist areas, etc. Tailored to each sector, all types of sites, and every country, it has been selected by ADEME as the reference methodology for adaptation. In particular, it is tailored for French small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, in partnership with Ademe and Bpifrance.
“While reducing greenhouse gas emissions remains crucial, adapting to a changing climate is becoming an essential factor in ensuring business continuity for organizations and companies. We are therefore actively working to provide them with the essential tools to assess their climate resilience and translate climate change risks into concrete economic decisions.”said Romain Grandjean, Principal and co-lead of Carbone 4’s Adaptation Division.
“Our goal is to help all organizations, regardless of their size, strengthen their management of physical risk adaptation. “Following the adaptation of our Ocara method for small organizations, we are pleased to now offer it in the form of a platform that facilitates adoption by companies and scaling up.”added Violaine Lepousez, Principal and co-lead of Carbone 4’s Adaptation Division.
