Call for Innovation in “Low-Carbon Concrete” by the Low-Carbon Specifiers Hub

The Low-Carbon Stakeholders Hub is launching a call for innovation in “low-carbon concrete” to assess the current state of the industry and provide an overview of innovative solutions for reducing the carbon footprint of concrete in the construction sector.

Concrete: A Key Challenge in Achieving Carbon Neutrality in the Construction Sector

This call for proposals is open until September 30. Startups, project managers, general contractors, and manufacturers are invited to participate. “This category is one of the main contributors to a building’s carbon footprint. Reducing the amount of concrete through innovative construction methods, reducing the amount of clinker (a component of cement), implementing alternative solutions, using low-carbon reinforcement… there are many ways to reduce concrete’s carbon footprint… let’s see your innovations!” If your solutions help reduce the carbon footprint of concrete—whether through products, services, value models, or building usage—this call for innovation is open to you! ", the hub states.

What is the Low-Carbon Decision-Makers Hub?

The hub is a collaborative platform supported by theFrench Institute for Building Performance (IFPEB) and Carbon 4, aimed at decision-makers in the construction sector (developers, project owners, engineers, etc.). Its goal is to train and guide them in specifying low-carbon measures. In 2020, the hub includes the following 10 participants: Bouygues Immobilier, Bouygues Construction, BNP Paribas Real Estate, Groupama Immobilier, Poste Immo, Rabot Dutilleul, Covivio, Sogeprom, Vinci Immobilier, and ICADE. Altarea recently joined the initiative, and the hub is becoming increasingly active and growing steadily. To carry out its mission, the hub has two tools at its disposal: an analysis database from the E+C- observatory and a tool for analyzing materials used in the construction sector, based on data from the INIES database.

How can I participate?
