Appointment of Alain Grandjean and Jean-Marc Jancovici to the High Council for Climate
Carbon 4, a consulting firm specializing in energy transition and climate change adaptation, is pleased and proud of the appointment of two of its partners, Alain Grandjean and Jean-Marc Jancovici, to the High Council for Climate. Reporting directly to the Prime Minister, the High Council for Climate is tasked with providing independent insight into the government’s climate policy. The High Council is composed of thirteen leading experts*. Alain Grandjean and Jean-Marc Jancovici will bring to the High Council their expertise, drawn from more than 10 years of daily engagement with climate issues as they intersect with economic activities, as well as from their current and past experiences in civil society organizations.
Alain Grandjean is recognized for his expertise in the field of energy transition, with a particular focus on economic and financial aspects. He has served on or chaired several government commissions and is actively involved in think tanks and foundations. With 30 years of experience as an executive and advisor to business leaders, he is the author of several books and reports. He has also been a speaker and trainer since 2007 on the topics of energy and climate change and the financing of the energy transition.
Jean-Marc Jancovici is renowned for his expertise on energy and climate issues. Since 2000, he has been working on how companies and organizations incorporate carbon constraints into their operations. In particular, he authored successive editions of ADEME’s Carbon Footprint Assessment from 2000 to 2010. He is also a teacher, lecturer, trainer, and author of books and columns. In particular, he chairs the think tank The Shift Project, which advocates for a decarbonized economy. The full membership of the High Council for Climate:
- Corinne Le Quéré : Chair of the High Council for Climate. Professor of Climate Change Science and Policy at the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom) and Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research; Chair of the international jury for “Make Our Planet Great Again”; member of the Committee on Climate Change (United Kingdom)
- Valérie Masson-Delmotte : paleoclimatologist, Ph.D. in physics, researcher at the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences, and co-chair of IPCC Working Group I
- Laurence Tubiana : France's climate ambassador at COP 21, director of the European Climate Foundation;
- Katheline Schubert : economist, professor at the Sorbonne, chair of the CETA Evaluation Committee, and author of a CAE paper titled “Trade and Climate: Toward Reconciliation”
- Marion Guillou : President of Agreenium, an institute specializing in agronomy, veterinary science, and forestry; member of the boards of directors of Imerys, Veolia, and BNP; former president of INRA
- Céline Guivarch : an economist at Cired who is working with IPCC Working Group III (on mitigation) on the drafting of the Sixth Assessment Report, expected in 2021
- Jean-François Soussana : Scientific Director of INRA
- Pascal Canfin : former Deputy Minister to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of development and Director General of WWF France
- Alain Grandjean : economist, co-founder of Carbone 4, member of the FNH's scientific advisory board
- Pierre Larrouturou : economist and executive director of the Agir pour le climat association; along with climatologist Jean Jouzel, he is advocating for a European climate finance pact worth 1,000 billion euros
