Housing: Priority on Energy-Efficiency Renovations

October 1, 2012 — The Grenelle Environment Forum had set a target of reducing energy consumption in the housing and office building stock by 38% by 2020, compared to 2008.

However, that is not at all the path we have taken so far.

The key driver for reducing emissions is the renovation of existing housing stock, which is why François Hollande has promised to increase the pace of energy-efficiency renovations of older homes to 600,000 per year. But this goal requires targeted renovation projects and innovative financing tools.

At Carbone 4, Alain Grandjean and Emmanuel Blanchet analyzed the most effective solutions for reducing energy consumption in residential buildings.
