The E+C- Label: What Does the Future Hold for New Construction?
In February 2017, the first single-family home to meet the requirements of the E+C- Label was completed in the Val d’Oise. Built with a wood-frame structure and powered entirely by electricity, the home has an ENERGY 3 – CARBON 1 rating (best class: ENERGY 4 – CARBON 2). This label is at the heart of an ambitious government pilot program aimed at preparing for the transition of the RT 2012 to Environmental Regulations. For the first time, the regulations are expected to include CO₂ requirements. The current challenge for stakeholders in the construction industry is therefore to advocate for thresholds that are both realistic and consistent with the climate goals set for the sector.
With its publication, Carbone 4 would like to share its expertise by analyzing the potential carbon impacts of the Label on the buildings of the future.
