The Carbone 4 Academy: Practical Training to Understand and Take Action Against Climate Change

Launched in 2021 for businesses and the financial sector, the Carbone 4 Academy offers training to help participants understand energy and climate issues and take action within their organizations

Issues related to climate change and the energy transition are gaining prominence at all levels of society; yet it is still difficult to know how to address them within one’s company. Indeed, Minimum-level knowledge of energy and climate issues is virtually not taught today.

At a time when the IPCC is confirming that the consequences of climate change are accelerating, and reminding us that there are limits to the ability of ecosystems and human societies to adapt, It is imperative to take action in the area of education on energy and climate issues.
To drive change in businesses and society, it is indeed crucial to understand the problems, grasp the scale of the issues, and know how to take pragmatic action.

Building on its long history of providing consulting and support services to businesses, Carbone 4 launched its training center in 2021: the Carbone 4 Academy.
Led by Alexandre Florentin, the Carbone 4 Academy aims to train corporate employees and help them develop their skills on climate-related topics so that they are able to implement effective action plans.

Carbone 4 Académie’s unique position within the group allows it to work closely with colleagues in the Consulting division, drawing on fifteen years of experience supporting companies with their decarbonization strategies across all industries. The training programs are thus led by experts who have mastered the skills of climate strategy, and are at the forefront of new methodological developments.

Drawing on the consultants’ experience, the Carbone 4 Academy aims to conduct in-depth work on how learners approach the topic of “climate,” starting with a shift in mindset regarding the principles that govern the business world. These practical tools for understanding the issues at stake thus enable us to challenge the paradigm of infinite growth and anticipate the upheavals to come.

Three training courses are currently offered, all 100% online in virtual classrooms, with a total duration of 8 to 12 hours spread over 4 to 6 weeks: “Climate and Business”, “Climate and Finance” and “Climate Resilience of Businesses”. 260 people successfully completed the training in 2021; the Carbone 4 Academy team is expanding in 2022 to train more than 350 people.

With enthusiasm, clarity, and humility, Carbone 4 Academy aims to become, within the next few years, the center of excellence for continuing education on issues related to climate change.
