Carbone 4 x bp2r x Sightness Webinar: Low-Carbon Transition in Transportation

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—and even today—discussions about the world after the pandemic have multiplied: more social justice, more respect for people and the planet. However, with a major economic crisis looming, it is unclear whether actions will follow. The transportation sector, for example, plays a central role in the fight against global warming. Yet when supply chain professionals at contracting companies are surveyed, they rank CSR policy last among post-COVID-19 transportation priorities. Whether we’re talking about the “new normal” or a return to the “abnormal,” the challenges of the low-carbon transition for transportation are, in reality, still poorly understood. It’s not enough to stick to the same old models while simply introducing more and more clean vehicles: the changes must be far more profound. Nor is this approach at odds with efficient transportation, nor does it necessarily mean skyrocketing costs or a decline in service quality. Why must companies for which logistics is a key issue make a serious commitment to this transition? What do they stand to gain, and conversely, what risks do they face if they maintain the status quo? And above all, how should they go about it? bp2r, Carbone 4, and Sightness hosted a webinar on June 30 dedicated to the challenges and practical implications of the low-carbon transition in transportation for shippers.
