Issues

In 2023, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies account for approximately 30% of France’s carbon footprint (1). Decarbonizing these businesses is crucial for large corporations, whose indirect emissions linked to their suppliers (often SMEs and mid-market companies) account for a significant portion of their greenhouse gas footprint.

However, in 2023, only 35% of them had assessed their emissions. The majority are held back, first and foremost, by the administrative burdens involved in such an exercise, as well as by a lack of financial resources and a lack of time.

These findings underscore the importance of an emissions measurement tool designed to meet the operational and financial capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies.
