The International Maritime Sector is at the heart of how our economy, based on transcontinental trade in goods. Just like international air travel, it has long been absent from international climate discussions. As a result, stakeholders in this sector have adopted a very wait-and-see attitude toward this issue for decades. Today, the tide is turning, and the International Maritime Organization is making a show of a certain commitment to taking action in the fight against climate change, as are some major players in the industry.
